Music & Worship Arts

The Music & Worship Arts ministries at First United Methodist Church exist to enable more perfect worship, both personally and corporately. Participants come with a willing spirit and an eagerness to give their time in service to this congregation and its worship. Be sure to learn about our ensembles and other avenues for ministry. All are welcome and encouraged to participate in Music & Worship Arts.

Sanctuary Choir, music leaders for the 11:00 worship services in the sanctuary, begin rehearsals at their regular time, 7:00 pm, in the choir room located in the lower level of the building.  New anthems, as well as older familiar anthems, are to be rehearsed, along with service music to enhance worship services.  All interested singers (no auditions required) are encouraged to join for these rehearsals which last until 8:30 each Wednesday evening.

Christmas Music preparation is to be the first part of each Wednesday’s rehearsal time.  Singers who wish to participate in Christmas are encouraged to do so.

Prime Ringers, our handbell choir, begins its rehearsal at 6:00 pm Wednesdays.  If you are interested, but have never rung handbells, see Margaret for some beginning instructions on ringing. Handbell choir rehearsal room is located in the lower level across from Sanctuary Choir rehearsal room.

See the Childrens’ Ministry page for information on Worship Arts for Kids (W.A.K.).  A great program of activities is being planned.  Wanda Scanlon is looking for persons who would like to form a liturgical dance troupe.  See Wanda, or Jenni Thorn for more information on this new offering in our worship arts ministry.

First Awakening, our 8:55 a.m. contemporary worship service, is also in need of musicians, both singers and instrumentalists, to rehearse and lead this service. Rehearsals are Wednesday and Sunday nights at 6 p.m. See Beau Sage for more information about rehearsal place and time.
