Phyllis Maley, who has been the Administrator at FUMC since 1995, earned the designation of Certified Church Administrator in July of 2000 through the National Institute of Church Finance and Administration at the Candler School of Theology, Emory University.

After supporting her husband through medical school, Phyllis was a stay-at-home mom, serving in numerous volunteer positions, before returning to college in 1990.  She graduated from Union University in 1992 with a degree in Business Administration, majoring in accounting.  She worked for three years with a local accounting firm.

Phyllis and her husband, Dr. Bruce Maley, have lived in Jackson and been members of First Church since 1978.  Their son, Dr. Chris Maley is a psychiatrist at Vanderbilt University.  He lives with his wife, LeeAnn, and their son, Alex, in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. 

Their daughter, Melissa, and her husband, Andy Zinn, live in Lawrence, Kansas, where he is on the faculty in the Department of Social Welfare at the University of Kansas and she is a stay-at-home mom.  They have two children, Jackson and Mimi.

Phyllis is grateful to the members of FUMC for allowing her the opportunity to use her accounting skills to support the ministries at FUMC for seventeen years.  Phyllis enjoys working in her home and yard, reading, watching movies, and especially being with her grandchildren.
